Optos Names Alexandre Montague CEO - Elevating its Mission to Drive Better Healthcare Outcomes 

Global vision care executive brings more than two decades of ophthalmic leadership experience and a passion for innovation, prevention and improving patient outcomes worldwide

Dunfermline, UK — 9, June, 2026 —  Optos, the global leader in ultra-widefield (UWF™) retinal imaging, today announced the appointment of Alexandre Montague as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.
 
Montague brings nearly 25 years of global healthcare, ophthalmology, and vision care leadership experience, with a strong track record of building high-performing organizations, advancing innovation, and expanding access to technologies that support earlier detection, prevention, and improved patient outcomes. He most recently served as Chief Executive Officer of Hoya Vision Care, where he led a global organization spanning 20,000 employees and operations across 35 subsidiaries worldwide.

Prior to Hoya, Montague held senior leadership positions at Essilor and Zeiss, building deep expertise across ophthalmic devices, optics, vision care, and medical technology. Known for a leadership philosophy rooted in integrity, transparency, and empowerment, Montague has built a global career dedicated to enabling organizations to grow through innovation, a customer-centric approach, and high-performing teams.
 
For over thirty years, Optos has revolutionized retinal imaging, elevating the business of eye care; expanding access, supporting earlier disease detection, and improving clinical decision-making to enable better outcomes. Throughout his career, Montague has also championed innovation and long-term approaches to vision health, including leadership in myopia management and preventative care.
