These interesting patient case studies and clinical data illustrate the tremendous capabilities of our unique ultra-widefield retinal imaging technology platforms.

Featured case studies:

  • optomap Image of Healthy 3 Year Old

Retinal image of healthy 3 year old

The image to the left is an optomap image of a healthy 3 year old taken without sedation, pupil dilation or contact with the cornea in a manner that is fast and non-intrusive.

  • Female patient optomap image revealing central retinal vein occlusion

    Central retinal vein occlusion

A female patient reported for a routine eye examination. She had an unremarkable ocular and systemic history, reported no complaints and did not wish to be dilated.

Her optomap image, shown here, revealed a developing central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO), along with venous congestion and scattered hemorrhages. The patient was referred to a retinal specialist as well as a primary care physician for follow up.

  • Early AMD with Drusen

Early age-related macular degeneration case study

A 58-year-old female presented for her annual eye exam and was completely asymptomatic. Her optomap image, shown here, shows early signs of macular degeneration with drusen.

  • Retinal Detachment

    Retinal detachment case study

A 38-year-old female presented for a routine eye exam because she was running low on contacts, had not been seen in a year and she needed new lenses. She had an ocular history of high myopia but was a successful user of daily wear disposable contact lenses. Her optomap revealed she had a detached retina.

  • Retinal Hole Case Study

    Retinal hole case study

An ophthalmologist stopped by the Optos exhibit booth at AAO 2003 in Anaheim CA for a demonstration of the optomap technology. During his imaging session, he inquired about eyesteering capabilities. He was imaged in upgaze and the optomap Retinal Exam indicated a retinal hole in the superior field of his right eye.
