Optos Launches V2® Vantage at Optometry’s Meeting™

MARLBOROUGH, MA, June 28, 2007 – Optos, a leading medical technology company for the design, development, manufacturing, and marketing of retinal imaging devices, will introduce the latest version of its proprietary operating software – V2® Vantage – at the American Optometric Association’s (AOA) Optometry’s Meeting™ taking place in Boston, MA, June 28 – June 30, 2007.
“The introduction of V2® Vantage delivers on a key promise within our customer partnership agreements to keep our customers on the leading edge of retinal imaging technology,” said Thomas W. Butts, Chief Executive Officer, Optos plc. “We expect V2® Vantage to be particularly helpful to our customers in secondary care who are performing the optomap® plus Medical Retinal Exam, which is a reimbursable exam and enables practitioners to clearly monitor known conditions.”
Optos V2® Vantage is now be available to all new Partners and is currently being rolled out to the Optos customer base. The new software offers many new innovative clinical advancements that will be beneficial to both the practitioner and patient. The new features include: 3D Wrap™ Patient Orientation Tool, ResMax™ High Resolution Enhancement for Central Pole, Practice Performance Statistics, Targeted Ophthalmoscopy Mode, and more.
“The new features of the V2® Vantage operating software package have been particularly useful in my clinical practice,” stated Kim Castleberry, OD, Plano Eye Associates. “Since the new ResMax™ feature produces an image with resolution increased by approximately 10-15%, the software helps document pathology to monitor disease progression over time.”
Optos will host key educational activities to explore the exciting new features of V2® Vantage including the Optos Academy workshop series for Partners and interested doctors which highlights techniques and best practices created to enable clinicians to achieve the highest level of success with the optomap® Retinal Exam. There will be three sessions of the Optos Academy including: Thursday, June 28 at 5:30 pm, Friday, June 29 at 12:30 pm, and Saturday, June 30 at 12:15 pm. Each session will feature, “A Beta Test Site User’s Experience,” by Kim Castleberry, OD, Plano Eye Associates, in which he will discuss his experience with the new software. In addition, “Overview of the Newest Software Release, V2® Vantage,” will be given by Dave Iannetta, MBA, Business Manager, Optometry, Optos.
Optos will sponsor, “Comprehensive Retinal Update,” #2215 – on Friday, June 29, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The experts will discuss a myriad of issues ranging from caring for patients with diabetes by Dr. Jeffry Gerson, retinal disease detection and management by Dr. William Jones, and coding and reimbursement for retinal and vitreal conditions by Dr. Kim Castleberry.
Representatives from Optos will be at its booth throughout Optometry’s Meeting™ to meet with Optos Partners as well as educate attendees on the new features of V2® Vantage. Booth, #905, visitors will receive a complimentary optomap® Retinal Exam and learn how this innovative technology – used by more than 2,500 eye care practitioners worldwide – helps with the detection and diagnosis of both eye and non-eye related conditions.
